ALLOY

Our inventory includes Low Alloy Steel, typically containing between 2% to 10% total alloy content, consisting of one or more of the following elements: Chromium, Manganese, Molybdenum, and Nickel. These elements are primarily added to increase hardenability and improve mechanical properties and toughness after heat treatment. Low Alloy Steel is commonly available in various conditions, such as As-rolled, Annealed, Normalized, and/or Quench and Tempered.

Material listed is what we keep in inventory, please contact us for any additional requests. We are always looking to expand our product line.

Alloy

Grade:

4130

Condition:

Normalized, Quenched, and Tempered

Size Range and Method:

2″ OD to 11-1/2″ OD Hot Rolled

9″ OD to 32″ OD Forged

9″ SQ to 22″ SQ Forged

General Description:

Our 4130 normalized, quenched and tempered material has a minimum yield of 75,000 PSI and a minimum tensile of 95,000 PSI. All material meets Nace and has a hardness range of 18 to 22 RC. We have high inventory levels in accordance with the newest API 6A requirement. This grade is proven to have high weldability and ductility.

Grade:

4140

Condition:

Annealed or Quenched and Tempered

Size Range and Method:

1″ OD to 11-1/2″ OD Hot Rolled

9″ OD to 26″ OD Forged

General Description:

The 4140 quenched and tempered bar that Pride Metals stocks has a minimum yield of 110,000 PSI and a hardness range of 30 to 36 RC. It is relatively easy to machine in the heat-treated state. Our 4140 annealed bar is suitable for further heat treatment.

Grade:

4330

Condition:

V-Mod

Size Range and Method:

2″ OD -8-1/2″ OD Hot Rolled

General Description:

Our 4330 V-Mod material is a low alloy steel with a high yield strength of 155,000 PSI. The material has a hardness of 34 to 40 RC and has superior impact resistance. It is often preferred over 4140 QT due to its higher strength levels, better hardenability and its CVN impact toughness.

Grade:

4340

Condition:

Annealed or Quenched and Tempered

Size Range and Method:

3″ OD to 11-1/2″ OD Hot Rolled

9″ OD to 24″ OD Forged

General Description:

4340 is known for its toughness, strength, and wear resistance. This alloy is used for highly stressed parts and heavy-duty applications. It is a heat treatable alloy and is one of the deeper hardening low alloy steels available. Our 4340 Q&T meets 125,000 PSI minimum yield and has a 290 to 350 BHN hardness range. The 4340 annealed is suitable for further heat treatment.

Grade:

8620

Condition:

As-rolled

Size Range and Method:

2″ OD to 11-1/2″ OD Hot Rolled

9″ OD to 24″ OD Forged

General Description:

8620 is our least expensive alloy bar. It is a carburizing steel with excellent toughness and ductility. The chromium and molybdenum increase hardness-penetration and wear. It is easily machinable, weldable, and polishable.
